Near Travel Korea is provided by EPLUS. The app does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.
1. Information used by the app
The app can use a place name entered by the user or foreground location selected through a GPS button. Location permission is requested only after the user starts a GPS search while the app is visible. Depending on the Android permission selected by the user, the device may provide approximate or precise location.
2. How location is used
For a user-requested nearby search, coordinates are transmitted over HTTPS to the Korea Tourism Organization TourAPI, including its English, Korean and pet-friendly tourism services. They are used to return nearby attractions, nature locations, food, accommodation, pet-friendly places and events.
Near Travel Korea does not save the coordinates in an app account or EPLUS database, does not use them for advertising, and does not access location in the background. Users can use place-name search without granting location permission.
3. Maps and external services
When the user opens the map picker or an external map, the selected map area or coordinates may be sent to OpenStreetMap and Google Maps to display map tiles or the requested location. When the user chooses a web search, the selected place name is sent to Naver, Daum or Google. These actions occur only after the user chooses the related map or search function.
4. App updates
The app checks the EPLUS official website over HTTPS for version information. If a newer version is available, the app shows an update notice. Installation is handled only by Google Play after the user chooses to continue; the app does not download or silently install an APK.
5. Data sharing and retention
EPLUS does not sell personal data. Data is transmitted only to the service providers needed for the function selected by the user: Korea Tourism Organization TourAPI, OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, Naver, Daum, Google Search and Google Play. Near Travel Korea does not maintain its own server-side user profile or location history. Each external service may process standard network information according to its own privacy policy.
6. Security
The app uses HTTPS for TourAPI, update and external web requests and disables cleartext network traffic on Android. Network, permission, location, public-data and external-link errors are handled with recovery guidance so the user can continue using the app.
7. Children
Near Travel Korea is a general travel-information app and is not specifically directed to children. The app does not knowingly create accounts for or collect profile information from children.
8. Policy changes and contact
This policy may be updated when app features or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when a material change is made. Questions may be submitted through the EPLUS official website or IT Manmulsang.
